The mission of the National Federation of the Blind is to achieve widespread emotional acceptance and intellectual understanding that the real problem of blindness is not the loss of eyesight but the misconceptions and lack of information which exist. We do this by bringing blind people together to share successes, to support each other in times of failure, and to create imaginative solutions.
Parents of blind children and blind youth can become part of the NFB effort to eliminate legal, economic and social discrimination against the blind. Learn about the issues that affect your blind child now and in the future.
What do we do?
Go to Washington D.C. to talk to the members of Congress. We call it “Washington Seminar”. Maybe you’d like to join the Wisconsin delegation next year!
Attend the annual conventions of the National Federation of the Blind and the National Organization of Parents of Blind Children. We can help you make the trip!
Take political action. Legislative experts monitor the impact of legislation on programs for the blind.
Let your voice be heard!
